Writers and creators of Internet shows such as Chad Vader, The Guild, lonelygirl15, Pink, Afterworld, KateModern and God, Inc. will headline the Writers Guild Foundation’s first Craft Day dedicated to writing for the Internet. They will be joined by representatives of Virtual Artists and Strike TV as well as by distributors (including metacafe and nationallampoon.com), agents, industry executives, lawyers, and analysts, for a broad overview of opportunities and pitfalls facing both new and established writers who are looking to take their talents to the vast new entertainment terrain of the worldwide web.

Entitled Spinning the Web, the event, which takes place at the Writers Guild of America headquarters in West Hollywood on Saturday June 21, is a special one-day workshop on the subject of writing for the Internet (How does one write a webisode? How did other people get their shows up and running? How can writers become more entrepreneurial in this arena? How does one monetize content? What are the practical and legal issues?) Journalists and industry commentators (David Sarno; Andrew Wallenstein; John Scott Lewinski and others) will serve as moderators/facilitators for many of the sessions.

Check-in is at 8:30 am, and the sessions run until 6 pm, followed by a complimentary wine and cheese reception in the evening. Coffee breaks and lunch are also included in the registration fee. The Writers Guild of America is located at 7000 W. Third Street, Los Angeles 90048.
