Using your real name as part of the URL increases the chance that search engines like Google will find your profile page. It also helps your networking effort to have a personal URL rather than a code.
-
No. REELot keeps your e-mail address confidential yet allows members to contact each other through anonymous REELot email messages.
-
There are many possibilities for this and your browser's cache would be the first thing to check if you have previously been able to access the site from the same computer that is now having the problem. To remedy this, empty your browser's cache, quit the browser completely, then re-open it and log back in.
If that does not work or if this is the first time you are trying to access the site from the computer that is having the problem, make sure you are using the latest version of your browser. Also, make sure that you are not behind a firewall that is blocking your access and ensure that your acceptance of cookies is enabled. If you are at work, you may want to check with your company's IT department about certain restrictions they may have.

Each user may only have one account. Multiple accounts would confuse other users and could dilute the impact that your profile page would otherwise have in marketing your work and promoting your career.
-
Yes, but it’s not recommended. Changing your user name can confuse REELot users and hurt your chance of being noticed.
-
From the Login page, you can have your password sent to your email address.
If you don't receive the email message within a short period of time, check your spam filters.
-
Absolutely. Go to My Profile and click on the appropriate editing tab.

REELot uses such information in order to confirm that the person registering as an Industry/Studio Representative is entitled to that status. REELot does not guarantee the information of any individual granted membership to its site. It recommends that its members use due diligence when dealing with any member.

You can upload an image to your personal profile by selecting the “Update Photo” tab in the “My Profile” section.
All images must be in .jpg or .gif format.
-
The best way to market your work and promote yourself is to maximize exposure. If that’s your goal then you should take advantage of all the features offered by REELot. One of the most prominent is having your picture on REEL Writer.
-
It’s REEL easy! Just upload your photograph at “My Profile” and check off the “share” box to automatically become a REEL Writer.
-
Writers who choose to be included on REEL Writer are randomly cycled through the REELot homepage so that all REEL Writers are treated equally.
-
If you have a trailer that you’d like included on REELot, please contact us at
trailers@reelot.com. We'll upload it for you and even link it to your profile page.
-
Along with your trailer, you will be asked to provide us with information to include in "Meet the Writer."

a. On REELot, creating a project is easy. Click on the “Set Up a Project” link from the Home page, Project page or your My Profile page. Enter your title, logline and synopsis for the project. Don’t forget to select the type of project, the genre (up to three) and the estimated budget level.
b. The next step is to upload the document (treatment, script, and/or REEL Pitch) associated with the project and be sure to select the group of people that you wish to have access to that material. Alternatively, you can assign an access code to your work then give it to anyone you want to access your material.
c. We strongly encourage you to also create a video pitch that describes your project in about 1 minute. This may be your best chance at interesting someone in your project so make sure it’s a polished product. Then upload your REEL Pitch and designate an access level just as you did for the document you uploaded.
-
No. At REELot, we recognize your need or desire to grant different access levels for different elements of your project. We even took “access” one step further by giving you the ability to grant access only to those people to whom you’ve given a specific access code, which is created and controlled by you.
-
Absolutely. REELot strongly encourages you to keep your projects current. You have the ability to change any aspect of your project at any time.
-
a. Your project resides on REELot’s dedicated server, which is backed up on a separate dedicated server. However, we require (see our Terms & Conditions) that you maintain your own copy somewhere other than REELot.
b. Only REELot members may download your material. Upon registering as a REELot member, that person agrees to our Terms & Conditions regarding material on REELot.
-
REELot is not a registration service and should not be used in the place of registration and/or Copyright.
-
a. As described in our Terms & Conditions, we highly recommend that you register your material with the Writers Guild of America (
www.wgaeast.org or
www.wga.org) and/or register your Copyright (
www.copyright.gov).
b. Most industry representatives won’t even consider a script or treatment that hasn’t been registered. That’s why we designate an area for you to include your registration number.
-
Of course! REELot is YOUR portfolio. You should continue to update it so that your most current work is available.
NOTE: REELot will not store previous versions of your work. Always be sure to keep a copy all your work.
-
From your project page, you can delete either the entire project or an element of the project by selecting the update button located next to that particular item.
CAUTION: REELot will not save deleted versions of your work. Always be sure to keep a copy all your work.

The acceptable format for screenplays is (.pdf) supported by Adobe Acrobat. Common screenplay writing software like Final Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter include PDF converters as part of the software. You may also want to consider a free PDF converter if you don't have either of these programs (like
www.cutePDF.com).
